What happens when a group of ordinary women decide to do something extraordinary?

Calendar Girls, The Play brings this heartwarming, hilarious, and true story to the stage in Tim Firth’s acclaimed theatrical adaptation about a local Women’s Institute that took the world by storm, one tastefully placed flower pot at a time.

The story follows Annie, whose world changes when her husband John tragically passes away from leukaemia. Wanting to raise money for a new sofa in the hospital waiting room, Annie and her best friend Chris convince their fellow WI members to strip off for an alternative calendar, posing nude behind everyday baking and crafting items. To the shock of their traditional WI chairman, and the delight of the rest of the country, the calendar becomes a global phenomenon.

Packed with classic Northern wit, laughter through tears, and brilliant stage presence, this uplifting theatrical production is a passionate celebration of friendship, community, and courage.

All Saints Elton Theatre Company has been part of the local community in Bury for over a century, tracing its roots all the way back to 1912. Over the years, the group has grown from a local church dramatic group into a well known community theatre company, picking up a few regional NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association), and ACT (Association of Community Theatre) awards along the way. It’s entirely driven by locals who come together to act, build sets, and manage the production. With a vibrant youth section launched a few years ago, they continue to inspire and welcome fresh young talent to the stage.

If you’re looking for an entertaining and deeply moving night at the theatre, don’t miss this brilliant live play performed by fantastic local talent!
