This International Women’s Day, a new community-led celebration at The Met will bring women and residents from across Bury together for a free day of creativity, culture and connection on Thursday 5 March, 10am – 1.30pm.
Made possible through funding from the LETS Stand Together grant, the event celebrates the power of women to bring communities together and create shared experiences rooted in culture, joy and belonging. Led by women from Bury’s richly diverse communities, the day promises a welcoming and uplifting space for all.
The celebration will feature hands-on matcha making, calligraphy and mark-making workshops, live female-led performances and food representing a range of cultural traditions.

Cammie Liu, owner of Moliuliu’s Store and co-organiser of the event
Georgie Brooke, Engagement and Access Officer, said
“When women come together to share their cultures, stories and creativity, we build something truly magical. We want this event to reflect that spirit, creating a space where people from all walks of life can come together and celebrate the incredible women of Bury and beyond!”
Cammie Liu from Moliuliu Store at Bury Market, who is supporting the event together, said:
“International Women’s Day is about recognising women’s voices and the ways we support one another. Being part of creating this event is a chance to celebrate culture, creativity, and collaboration across communities. Bury Market is a place where cultures meet every day, and this feels like a natural extension of that spirit, bringing people together in a way that’s welcoming, shared and joyful.”

Bringing together women from many different cultural backgrounds, the project is a joyful celebration of shared creativity, storytelling and seasonal traditions. Through making, learning and celebrating side by side, the event nurtures connection, understanding and pride, helping to shape a Bury that feels more inclusive, connected and full of possibility.
This event has been made possible thanks to funding from the LETS Stand Together grant, which supports projects that strengthen community connection and cohesion.
The event is FREE bookable event and open to all, welcoming the whole community to come together to learn, share and celebrate in a joyful, inclusive space.
