Probably the leading swing, blues and rhythm and blues band on the planet – pure vintage!
With nearly seven thousand performances across twenty seven countries under their belt in their thirty five years on the road, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest jump, jive and swing band – they’re an institution!
In that time, they have opened shows for BB King, Cab Colloway, Ray Charles, and toured with the Blues Brothers Band (the one from the movie), and they’ve played on thirty six radio shows and made seventy three television appearances.
Rough, tough and always rocking, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys have appeared at festivals, in concert and at clubs throughout the UK and Europe as well as in the U.S.A – and Russia. Along the way, the band have recorded eleven albums for Big Bear Records, all distributed worldwide.
The band’s line up is: King Pleasure (vocals and baritone saxophone); Boysey Battrum (alto and tenor saxophones); Bullmoose K Shirley (guitars); Mighty Matt Foundling (piano); Shark Van Schtoop (bass); and Gary ‘The Enforcer’ Barber (percussion).
Reviews
“Behind the fun and rollicking good times lies an outfit skilled enough for the horns to come on with the bite and precision of the Basie Band.”
The Guardian
“The genuine article, in full working order, dedicated to shaking you up and swinging you into the middle of next week. They've got King Pleasure's inimitable stogies and bourbon voice, they've got a roaring band sound that comes at you like the Wabash Cannonball.”
The Observer
“To those who say that swing is a musical form best left to the Americans, prepare to be proven wrong - this British combo is bullet-proof!”
