“Chris Fox – this fella’s got something about him, he’s a class act, a great writer and a fantastic performer. Just sheer Genius!” Frank Hennesey, BBC Wales
A genre defying folk troubadour Chris Fox made rapid progress through the UK folk and roots scene with his song writing, utilising a variety of styles across the root’s lexicon of traditional and contemporary folk, americana, country and blues. Audiences are enthralled by his rich vocals, complex guitar playing, and loop pedal alchemy finding Chris to be humorous and thought provoking in equal measures. His naturally laid back, unostentatious style creates the perfect ambience for an intimate and inclusive live experience drawing listeners in with tales of both the everyday and the unexpected.
In this show Chris teams up with legendary double bassist John Parker of Nizlopi fame (The Willows, Jackie Oates) to create a stripped back and intimate performance of work from Fox’s repertoire. Having been something of a fan Fox wasted no time in employing John to perform on his new album when they crossed paths backstage at Cambridge Folk Festival in 2018. Before long the duo was up and running as a live act. With echoes of early John Martin and Danny Thompson the two have developed a unique and inimitable style that underpins Fox’s song writing.
Born and raised in Cambridgeshire, Chris cut his teeth playing for pints in local drinking establishments along the river Great Ouse in 2014. Fast forward to an award-winning singer songwriter, performing at folk festivals, clubs and theatres in the UK as headliner, in double bills and as support for major acts on the UK folk scene. In 2022 Chris got his first taste of the international circuit at Costa Del Folk Festival, Portugal and is headlining two festivals in 2023
