With only two months to go until our much anticipated Dick Whittington, we’re excited to be able to share with you our cast announcement! Coming to The Met’s stage in a flurry of frocks, slapstick and songs, will be the following:
Connor Baldwin
Dick Whittington
Bury local, Connor, is a born adventurer (just like his character Dick). He comes to the Bury stage after entertaining the masses in Lanzarote. His cheeky charm and fantastic energy make him the perfect Dick Whittington
Robert Styles
Sarah the Cook
Our lovely dame, Robert has appeared as Dame for The Big Tiny twice: As Little Joan in Robin Hood (Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield) and Nurse Nanny Nightingale in Sleeping Beauty (Millgate Arts Centre, Saddleworth).
Graduating from the Arts Educational School in London, Robert made his professional acting debut as Arthur Fowler’s debt collector in Eastenders in 1987. Since then, he has worked in regional, touring, fringe and West End theatre productions and made numerous radio, commercial, film and TV appearances. West End credits include Priscilla at the Palace Theatre, King Lear at The Old Vic, The Creeper at the Playhouse and Robin Hood at the Players Theatre.
Naomi Wynter
Fairy Bowbells
Naomi Wynter makes her professional debut as Fairy Bowbells and can’t wait to perform to families across Bury!
Over the years she has performed lead in a vast amount of off West End musicals such as Mimi in Rent, Julia in The Wedding Singer and one of the Rosettes in Little Shop of Horrors.
Nancy Penvose
Queen Rat
Nancy is a Huddersfield based actress. She payed Queen Rat for The Big Tiny last year.
Nancy is originally from Lancashire and studied theatre at Trent University in Nottingham. She expatriated to the US and spent 26 years in Detroit, Michigan where she worked both as a professional actor and puppeteer. She was a member of the Dramatic Programmes Team at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Nancy also founded her own puppet company ‘Once Upon a Puppet’ where she wrote, made and performed live to schools, libraries and many other venues.
Leni Murphy
The Cat
Leni is a non-binary Mancunian based actor. Leni appeared as The Cat in Dick Whittington last year.
Leni Murphy is an actor, director and dramaturg based in Manchester. Leni is the founder and artistic director of theatre company Asphalt Roses and has a podcast called Audio Allegories which is bedtime stories for adults with insomnia.
Ian Hayles
Alderman Fitzwarren/Sultan/Captain/Postman
Ian is a Wigan based actor and is reprising his roles of Alderman Fitzwarren, Sultan, Captain and Postman in Dick Whittington for The Big Tiny. Other The Big Tiny shows Ian has appeared in include Sleeping Beauty and best-selling Adventure Box – Charlotte Holmes.
Ian is an actor, writer, director and improviser. Credits include: Doctor Who, Coronation Street and Flashprank for MTV. On stage he has appeared in many different productions, from Shakespeare (Polonious in Hamlet and Quince in A Midsummer Nights Dream for Lodestar Theatre Co. and Malvolio in Twelfth Night for Pentacle Theatre) to Musical Theatre (Sir Edward in The Pirates of Mutiny Bay and Sir Edward England for Alton Towers/Merlin).
Lauren Steele
Alice Fitzwarren
Lauren is a 2021 BA Musical Theatre graduate from the Guildford School of Acting. Credits while training include Alice Beane in Titanic: the Musical, Mrs Medlock in The Secret Garden, and Twelfth Night: a Musical, all at GSA; Featured Ensemble in Carousel in Concert at Cadogan Hall and One Young World London Opening Ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.
Lauren is reprising the role of Alice Fitzwarren after appearing in The Big Tiny’s production of Dick Whittington last year (which was her first professional role!)
