The long nights are a very special time in Nordic countries. In this seasonal concert, the three fiddlers will each lead tunes from their own country – Norway, Sweden and Shetland – and share some of the tradition of their regions and their families, bringing the warmth of the fireside with tunes played for good cheer amid the snow and darkness. And you can also expect some of the trio’s usual favourite tunes with their friendly inter-country rivalry and onstage warmth!

The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc is Kevin Henderson (Shetland), Anders Hall (Sweden) and Olav Luksengård Mjelva (Norway). Each is a master fiddler in their own tradition, and together they produce wonderful harmonies and arrangements.

Reviews

“I surrender unconditionally to these master musicians. The worn concept of tradition and innovation have rarely been used as smart as this ”

LIRA

“Seldom before can three fiddlers have sounded so well matched as the Nordic Fiddlers Bloc. And seldom before can three fiddles have sounded so much like four and at times five instruments without using electronic trickery. ”

The Herald

“On the evidence to hand, pure fiddle doesn´t get much better than The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc. ”
