Sam Baker returns to The Met with his fifth album Land of Doubt.
Those familiar with his work will be aware of his tender, observational songs that seek out beauty in every nook and cranny. Perhaps, he describes the new record best, “I wanted a cinematic feel, a mixture of sparsity and tension…And beauty…I always come back to beauty on my records. That’s shorthand for something that’s bigger than me.”
To achieve this from yet another angle, he has laid aside his acoustic guitar and picked up an electric one. In just the same way he moves from camera to paintbrush in his art, it’s a seamless change which still captures that beauty he seeks.
Make sure you get your tickets soon for one of the finest American songwriters working today.
