The acclaimed northern folk trio Harp and a Monkey have won national acclaim and commissions for their historic projects.

In this 60-minute-long workshop they will discuss their ongoing project to mark the centenary of the Great War, how they chose the material that they did and why they felt it was important to challenge stereotypes of the conflict.

They will discuss a number of issues, including how much of a responsibility musicians have to be true to history and source material.

Led by the band’s frontman (a leading historian) expect some engaging debate, poignancy and plenty of laughs – as well as some great tunes.

Suitable for all ages and non-musicians as well as fellow troubadours.
