It wouldn’t feel like Christmas was coming without a performance in Ramsbottom by popular trio Harp and a Monkey, and this year they are planning something a bit different at their local folk club – a true Lancashire celebration.
The acclaimed electro-folk-storytellers have been described by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 as ‘charming – impossible not to like’
and fRoots magazine as ‘undoubtedly one of the most vital and charismatic things happening in English folk music right now’
. They will be joined by special guests including Steve Canavan.
Steve is the son of the late, great Lancashire folk music stalwart Mike Canavan, and a real chip off the old block. He will perform a mix of his own material, some of his dad’s, and a few Lancashire sing-a-longs as well.
As per usual, when headliners Harp and a Monkey are in town, the audience can expect plenty of poignancy, humour and banter, as well as some of the most original, melodic and thought-provoking music on the circuit. The band have also promised to exclusively unveil a couple of Lancashire-themed surprises of their own on the night. A show not to be missed.
