Mud Morganfield, the eldest son of the undisputed King of the Blues Muddy Waters, has for the last three years been delivering his charismatic Chicago blues to audiences from around the world. Mud’s powerful voice can easily switch from slow numbers that resonate with emotion to classic shuffles laden with strut, combine this with his natural sense of showmanship and he always holds audiences in the palm of his hand. His shows are a blend of his dad’s classic songs and his own original music which has garnered the respect of many musicians who shared the stage with Muddy Waters in his day, a fitting show for the official centenary of his father’s birth.
His album For Pops – A Tribute to Muddy Waters has been nominated for a Blues Music Award 2015 in the traditional blues category. The same album reached Number 1 in the Blues Summit Top 50 Best of Blues for 2014, an accolade Mud’s album Son of the Seventh Son received in 2012.
‘Mud is far more than a tribute to his father, he is a great bluesman in his own right.’
