Neil Gore plays Ricky Tomlinson in the turbulent true story of the 1972 Builders Strike.
The events surrounding the infamous industrial battle still make headlines to this day, and forty-two years on, the Shrewsbury 24 Campaign, led by picket-turned-actor Ricky Tomlinson, is still seeking to overturn the unjust prosecution of 24 building workers.
United We Stand tells the story behind the dispute using folksong, political skits and cabaret routines to give a satirical account of the strike and the court cases that followed.
Townsend Productions’ entertaining theatrical style creates a production in a way that is both compelling and thought-provoking, with popular and political songs arranged by John Kirkpatrick.
“Vivid, politically committed theatre”
