Brighouse and Rastrick Band come to Bury as part of The Met’s Homegrown festival to perform brass arrangements of well known folk tunes alongside a selection of rousing brass band favourites. The highlight of the concert will be a very special collaboration with one of folk’s finest voices – Lucy Ward.
Brighouse and Rastrick are regarded by many as the best and most consistent ‘public subscription band’ in the world. In its time the majority of premier band championships have been held by ‘Briggus’ and the band has also attracted a formidable reputation for highly entertaining concerts for both the general public and brass band connoisseurs alike.
24-year-old Lucy Ward won the Horizon Award for Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2012. Since then she has established herself as one of the hottest performers on the UK folk scene. In 2014 Lucy was nominated for Folk Singer of the Year, becoming one of the youngest people ever to be nominated for the award. “Britfolk’s most vibrant and forthright new young talent”
