Martha Tilston, found herself drawn to folk’s protest spirit and its themes of social justice from an early age. These themes are ever present in the eloquent, politicized questioning that suffuses her latest LP, Machines Of Love and Grace, a collection of subtly charged acoustic folk songs, tinged with electric guitar and touches of electronica.
Martha began her musical tenure in folk duo Mouse, with Nick Marshall, releasing debut album Helicopter Trees in 2000 and a follow up, Mouse Tales, in 2001. By 2007, Tilston was opening the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury with songs from her album Milkmaids and Architects, garnering a nomination for Best New Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Rachael Dadd is an Experimental folk multi-instrumentalist who lives her life between Japan and England, constantly touring, writing and skipping from one unlikely show to the next – whether it be a church in England, a gallery in Japan or atop a mountain in Switzerland. Her recordings are often born from late nights at home plugged into her 4-track. When she’s not playing, she’s sewing album sleeves and record bags. Rachael has recently released her new album , Bite The Mountain, turning her hands to clarinet, piano, ukulele, banjo, thumb piano, organ, guitar, and percussion.
