Faustus are three of the leading lights of their generation; Saul Rose {Waterson;Carthy, Whapweazel), Benji Kirkpatrick (Seth Lakeman Band, Bellowhead) and Paul Sartin (Bellowhead, Belshazzar’s Feast). Rooted deeply in the English tradition, in 2007 they received a 75th Anniversary Award from the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

Emily Portman’s 2010 debut album The Glamoury gained her two BBC Folk Award nominations and she fast gained a reputation for her unique songwriting, described as “remarkable and original”– The Observer and “The raw stuff of great Ballads” – Radio 2. Her second album Hatchling is released this year -an off-kilter collection of contemporary lullabies, apple-tree wassails, and folk carols set against a backdrop of England’s country lanes and urban backstreets.

Pilgrims’ Way are a three-piece band with a big personality and big sound, refreshingly different and reassuringly traditional. Playing their own particular brand of folk music, they were brought together by a series of chance meetings at sessions around the North West of England. Their influences individually are many and varied but they share a deep respect for the tradition and take as their inspiration some of the most influential bands from the ’60s/’70s revival.

Ticket includes entry to Folk Rising events in the Studio Theatre.

This event is included in the Homegrown Festival Weekend Ticket.
