Highly acclaimed, and considerably successful, songwriter David Rotheray, released his first solo album last year, entitled The Life Of Birds, (with only the tiniest nod in the direction of the David Attenborough TV series), and sets off on a UK tour, stopping at The Met on March 23.

Famed as the guitarist of The Beautiful South, David’s new album is intended as a modern folk concept album and although a solo effort, the record in fact features collaborations with ten different singer/songwriters drawn from the contemporary scene: Kathryn Williams, Alasdair Roberts, Jim Causley, Eliza Carthy, Camille O’Sullivan, Bella Hardy, Julie Murphy, Nat Johnson, Eleanor McEvoy and Jack L.

Described as an intriguing collision between Nashville and Whitby, Rotheray’s country instincts blend quite naturally with the generally more folky leanings of his collaborators. His tour will feature acclaimed musicans and Met regulars performing songs from the album, Bella Hardy and Jim Causley and Damon Butcher of Beautiful South fame.
