Ruby Colley is a violinist, sound artist and composer who blends instrumentation found sound and electronics.

Ruby’s work seeks to unravel the connections between nature, classical and folk music. Her latest commission Edgeland is an audio-visual work that explores people including Ruby’s neurodivergent brother, and places within an Edgeland near her home.

Her debut album Murmurations was released in 2010, followed by Sussex Sessions, an EP with Isobel Anderson in 2014. Latest album Overheard was released in April 2022 and seeks to unravel the connections between human presence and nature in response to the climate crisis. A further EP Underheard is due for release in April 2023, bringing together unheard tracks from Ruby’s compositional repertoire.

On this visit to The Met Ruby will be performing tracks from both Overheard and Underheard. Expect sonic weaving of found sound and strings in a dance between nature and humanity.
