Context: The Met has been commissioned to develop and deliver a community participatory programme linked to the 80th Anniversary commemoration of VE/VJ Day.

Purpose of Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and personable Lead Artist to head up this project. Working with The Met’s team, you will bring together three community groups to develop an artist brief to create a public facing event for September 2025 which will explore notions of ‘Freedom’ as it relates to different diverse communities in Bury.

The role will work closely with The Met and the Lancashire Fusiliers via the Fusiliers Museum to bring together veterans’ groups, LGBTQ+ groups and Global Majority communities to work with archival material, collect stories and commission an artist to work with them to create their event.

Hours of work and renumeration: The total value of this contract is £4,850 based on 24.25 days in total from 4 June – 30 November 2025.
